Turning Point Community Programs is seeking a Communication Specialist for our Administration Office in Rancho Cordova. Turning Point Community Programs (TPCP) provides integrated, cost-effective mental health services, employment and housing for adults, children and their families that promote recovery, independence and self-sufficiency. GENERAL PURPOSE

Under the general direction of the Chief Operations Officer(COO), this position is responsible for planning, organizing, and updating Turning Points Community Programs website, printed materials, and social media accounts.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is an at-will non-supervisory position within the Home Office. The position is responsible for assisting Turning Point's COO in a variety of administrative and communications activities, both media and print.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)

  • Increases public perception and awareness of the organization
  • Improves and increases communication and personal interactions with employees to help them experience greater connection with TPCP
  • Works closely with leadership to understand and translate ideas, strategies, and growth opportunities into a set of cohesive and actionable initiatives
  • Pursues and applies knowledge on current tools and trends to consistently evolve approaches that improve our story, market or culture and keep us on the cutting edge
  • Internally and externally communicates pertinent company news and updates by means of deliberately selected methods and channels
  • Supports programs and departments with needs for representation and promotion of maximum service effectiveness
  • Develops and manages department budget; monitor monthly and on an annual basis
  • Adheres to and upholds the policies and procedures of Turning Point Community Programs.
  • Attends all team and agency staff meetings unless approval for non-attendance is secured by senior leadership.

Knowledge Of:

  • Theory, principles, practices of administration;
  • TPCP procedures, rules and regulations
  • TPCP organization, operations, policies and mission;
  • Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, WordPress, and various social media platforms;
  • Principles and practices of sound business communication;
  • Standard business software, including word processing and spreadsheet programs; and,

Ability To:

  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing;
  • Use a computer proficiently;
  • Use digital cameras (photo and video)
  • Edit digital media
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships;
  • Meet and work with a wide variety of people;
  • Work effectively under pressure and with distractions; and
  • Organize time, workload, and materials.
  • Get around to multiple locations, typically by car

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES

Education, Training and Experience:

A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is through graduation with an BA/BS from an accredited college/university in a related field and two (2) years of experience performing a wide variety of the duties identified above.

Note: Work experience, on a year-by-year, may be used to qualify in lieu of the education requirements.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:

  • California driver’s license & current vehicle insurance/registration
  • Reliable means of transportation capable of passing vehicle safety inspection if more than five years old excluding all modes of two-wheeled transport inclusive of bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles.
