Description

The launch quality engineer is responsible for managing new vehicle launch activities in market, directly working with product engineering and engineering quality organizations, to monitor, define and develop any necessary corrective actions for any retrofit/re-flash that may be necessary for the vehicle to meet customer pre-delivery inspection standards. The role will require directly liaising with engineering, quality, manufacturing plant, logistics & service both in Vietnam and the US, to manage the activities.

This position will be responsible for detailing business needs and cases for working with logistics in sourcing suppliers/partners and managing supplier/partner to accomplish the business needs in a timely manner. Directly responsible for providing timely feedback and report out on all activities to management and stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES & KEY ACTIVITIES:

  • Be primary contact interface between logistics, sales & service to engineering, in assessing, organizing and managing all pre-delivery quality issues prior to new vehicle launch and delivery to customers.
  • Assure compliance with technical and organizational requirements. This includes sharing, uploading and maintaining information in warranty & issue management systems.
  • Assist logistics in providing any work instructions for SOW in their sourcing a supplier/vendor for retrofits and/or re-flashes at port, yard hold or service facilities.
  • Willingness to travel locally as required to fulfill job responsibilities, sometimes with minimal notice.
  • On-site support to resolve quality or delivery related issues.
  • Support containment and corrective actions as required, keep and maintain clear records of such events.
  • Communicate issues and resolutions clearly and effectively to the engineering team in Vietnam. Support and lead telephone conferences between all parties to resolve issues.
  • Create, manage, monitor & provide status report on rework/re-flash KPI’s and/or port inspection reports to management.
  • Primary contact for service to act as liaison with engineering to get any last mile delivery related issues addressed.
  • Assist field quality engineer as necessary in triage of returned parts.
  • Assist engineering quality as necessary in part recovery and vehicle condition reports.
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required
  • 5+ years of practical experience in automotive engineering and quality with understanding of standards and procedures
  • Experienced in field service, technical support, or production support in a technical or manufacturing environment
  • Technical background with an understanding of electrical engineering, mechanical and software engineering
  • Leadership, teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent critical thinking and good communication
  • Self-motivated, results driven, able to work with minimal supervision
