Description

The field quality engineer will be responsible for interfacing with sales and service site personnel, to escalate & get field/customer issues resolved. The role will require directly liaising with engineering, quality, manufacturing plant, service, part return centers, to escalate, triage, root cause and manage field quality issues to resolution. This position is directly responsible for providing timely feedback and report out on all activities to management and stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES & KEY ACTIVITIES:

  • Facilitate technical discussions between customer in North America and project team in Asia.
  • Assure compliance with technical and organizational requirements. This includes sharing, uploading and maintaining information in warranty & issue management systems.
  • Lead and support problem-solving activities in general. Display good, organized, and methodical problem-solving capabilities and be able to lead this activity across different US locations
  • Willingness to travel ~50% within territory as required to fulfill job responsibilities, sometimes with minimal notice.
  • On-site support to resolve quality or delivery related issues. Support containment and corrective actions as required and keep and maintain clear records of such events.
  • Communicate issues and resolutions clearly and effectively to engineering team in Vietnam. Support and sometimes lead telephone conferences between all parties to resolve issues.
  • Create written reports, summaries as appropriate, to share issues, findings, and recommendations with engineering
  • Primary contact for engineering to act as liaison with service to help gather, triage & analyze quality issue in the field.
  • Assist launch quality engineer as necessary during new vehicle launch.
  • Assist engineering quality as necessary in part recovery and vehicle condition reports.
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required.
  • 5+ years of practical experience in automotive engineering and quality with understanding of standards and procedures.
  • Experienced in field service, technical support, or production support in a technical or manufacturing environment.
  • Requires good overall technical background with an understanding of electrical engineering, mechanical and software engineering
  • Leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent critical thinking and good communication
  • Self-motivated, results driven, able to work with minimal supervision
