The Position:

Family Service Agencys Traineeship positions are responsible for managing a clinical caseload and contributing to the overall functioning of the clinic. Working with those impacted by trauma can be fulfilling and meaningful, yet simultaneously exhausting and heart-rending. FSA strives to be a trauma-informed and resilience-oriented organization, actively identifying and employing methods to support staff to embody a healthy and sustainable balance of care for others and themselves. We are looking to fill positions in Santa Maria. Clinical supervision is provided.

Sample of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing counseling to individuals, children, families, seniors, couples and/or groups as assigned, under the supervision of a licensed therapist in FSA offices and/or in client homes.
  • Formulate psychosocial diagnoses, develop clinical goals and treatment plans, perform clinically appropriate advocacy activities, and initiate clinically-indicated interventions.
  • Assist in information gathering, assessment of needs, and resource referral regarding services for clients and their families and develop case plans and provide follow-up and ongoing case management as needed.
  • Maintain records according to agency policies, including but not limited to completing progress notes within 48 business hours, administrative paperwork, and other related clinical documentation duties in a timely manner
  • Provide statistical information as needed.
  • Maintain regular communication with the agency (including, but not limited to: weekly clinical supervision, daily checking of agency email and responding as needed, and as-needed individual supervision meetings).
  • Participate in outreach opportunities.
Position Requirements

Employment Standards:

  • Bachelor degree required.
  • Current enrollment in master’s or doctoral-level clinical program at an accredited university. Experience in counseling children and families preferred.
  • Must posses valid CA Driver License and auto insurance.
  • Excellent analytical, computer, written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional attitude, teamwork, and ability to maintain confidentiality a must.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required


Classification, Hours and Pay Rate:

  • This position is approximately ten (10) hours per week. Hourly rate/stipend available, depending on circumstances.
