Reporting to the Senior Manager of Facilities, the HVAC Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, inspection, installation, and replacement of HVAC equipment, refrigeration equipment, and climate control system. We are hiring for day and swing shifts. You must have flexibility to work overtime, weekends, late nights, holidays, and in an emergency.

You Will:

  • Repair, inspect, overhaul, and perform scheduled maintenance of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Maintain tight climate conditions in collection areas to ensure that environmental systems are functioning properly.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Install, replace, adjust, and calibrate major components of refrigeration systems (e.g., compressors, condensers, expansion valves, service valves, thermostats, coils, and drive assemblies).
  • Use direct digital control (DDC) systems to monitor HVAC systems and operations from remote locations.
  • Check, repair and and/or replace valves, motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring, fans, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores, pipes, and other functional components of the system.
  • Clean up job site and return equipment, materials.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of power and hand tools; observe good safety practices on the job site.
  • Assist Plumber, Carpenter, Engineer, and Electrician to trouble shoot and service other related building systems and equipment.
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent certificate of completion. College or trade related courses preferred.
  • An EPA 608 refrigeration license.
  • A California driver license with less than three DMV points.
  • 4+ years of related experience servicing refrigeration equipment, preferably in the service trade.
  • CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) experience is a plus.
  • BMS (Building Management System) experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of specialty systems such as low temperature and humidity vaults with tight temperature and humidity parameters.
  • Ability to read control drawings, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and psychometric charts.
  • A strong understanding of micro processing controls and building management systems.
  • Ability to use computers or other electronic tools for trouble shooting and servicing HVAC systems, including air balancing and refrigeration equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of refrigeration tools and equipment (e.g., refrigeration gauges, vacuum pumps, torches, leak detector equipment, and velocity and cfm meters).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting HVAC controls and motor starters.
  • Proficient understanding of the relationship of temperature, dew point, and relative humidity
  • Demonstrated understanding of VAV, constant volume air systems, and VFD controls.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to repeatedly lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds and kneel/bend/stoop/squat for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in fluctuating temperatures.
  • Ability to work under adverse situations and conditions (e.g., dirty, noisy, etc.).
  • Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and heights.

The expected base hourly wage for this role is $37.00. The actual base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
