On Call 


Turning Point Community Programs is seeking an On-Call Associate for our Chico Housing Program in Chico, California. Turning Point Community Programs (TPCP) provides integrated, cost-effective mental health services, employment and housing for adults, children and their families that promote recovery, independence and self-sufficiency. Responsible for assisting members in meeting their expressed goals toward crisis resolution and maintaining wellness while living in the community.  Additional support in areas of medication management, transportation, counseling and advocacy will be provided as needed.


This is an at-will direct service position within a program. The position is responsible for assisting and advocating for our members in all areas of treatment and help them apply for and receive services.

  • Models behaviors and communication that support clients in utilizing skills to achieve functioning within social norms including empowerment and leadership in the community as well as the development of naturally occurring relationships.
  • Empowers members in meeting their goals.
  • Assists staff and members in the development and implementation of activities, programming and groups.
  • Supports clients in making informed decisions regarding mental health treatment.
  • Supports clients in completing applications, making appointments and following through with appointments to other community support agencies.
  • Facilitates communication and cooperation among agencies.
  • Facilitates psycho-social groups designed to engage clients in enhancing coping skills, daily living skills and improved socialization.
  • Educates to clients in the areas of nutrition, hygiene, medication management and provides access to menu items, supplies, hygiene and cleaning items.
  • Supports clients in completion of housekeeping tasks including meal preparation.
  • Provides prompt intervention in the event of a crisis both to stop the crisis and to notify when indicated, persons and agencies necessary for the resolution of the crisis situation.
  • Provides “on-the-spot” support that is both helpful to the members and consistent with the philosophy of the program.
  • Ensures that each client has linkage to a primary care physician and a mental health provider by graduation.
  • Collaborates with treatment team on a weekly basis to ensure collaboration of care.
  • Attends to the safety, health, and well being of members.
  • Provides support to other staff members as needed.

Position Requirements


Education, Training and Experience:

A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is through graduation from high school and  work experience providing mental health services.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:

  • California driver’s license & current vehicle insurance/registration if driving; and,
  • Reliable means of transportation capable of passing vehicle safety inspection if more than five years old excluding all modes of two-wheeled transport inclusive of bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles.
