Description

The Homologation Manager is a critical member of our team responsible for certifying VinFast vehicles are roadworthy and match government criteria for all vehicles made or imported into the US for Vehicle Type Approval (VTA). This role will closely collaborate with our headquarters team Vietnam, a third-party vendor, and help form our ZEV program. This position is REMOTE.

RESPONSIBILITIES & KEY ACTIVITIES:

  • Monitor the status of applicable US regulations (e.g., FMVSS, EPA, CARB):
    • Communicate current and upcoming requirements to the engineering team, through formal and informal design reviews, and in our requirements management tool
    • Assist design and engineering teams with interpreting regulatory requirements, including seeking out interpretations as needed
  • Work with design and engineering teams to assist the design reviews and track the compliance status for all regulatory topics
  • Coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure the completion of self-certification/homologation activities:
    • Determine applicable test configurations, develop detailed test plans, and assist in scheduling certification tests for each subject applicable regulation
    • Interface with applicable regulatory US bodies
    • Develop and populate compliance reports
    • Track and report certification status
    • Monitor product changes and update compliance reports or type approval certificates as needed.
  • Maintains and publishes weekly report with predetermined KPIs
  • When necessary, runs or participates in weekly meetings with other stakeholders to report out on assigned open issues
  • Clearly state requirements to engineering teams and drive them to implementation
  • Have a deep understanding of the product, how the regulations may be applied and to find creative solutions
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science, in the areas of Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Automotive, Computer Science, or other related fields
  • 8+ years of automotive experience in testing and certification with 3-5 years’ experience in homologation at an OEM, preferably on an electric vehicle program
  • Advanced experience and understanding of the entire US self-certification process
  • Strong knowledge of FMVSS, EPA, CARB
  • Experience with a formal requirements management tool (Jama, Jira, etc.) and systems engineering principles preferred
  • Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with internal and external partners
  • High attention to detail with experience in a startup or fast paced environment is a plus
  • A strong understanding of regulatory subjects including active and passive safety, and environmental regulations applicable to electric vehicles
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to cooperate with government authorities and test labs
  • Ability to travel for business as necessary including international trips
