Senior Director of Community Support Services

Accountabilities:

Leadership:

  • Participate with the Executive / Senior Leadership in developing a vision and creating a plan to guide the department.
  • Develop and articulate vision to department staff, and motivate staff to meet the needs of consumers and goals of the organization.
  • Promote a department culture that supports, encourages, and coaches staff to engage with all people in a pleasant, helpful, professional, and courteous manner at all times.
  • Attend, contribute and participate in functions, processes, and events that benefit any/all of the organizations within the Wyandot, Inc. family of organizations.
  • Identify, assess, and inform the CEO/Executive Leadership of internal and external issues that affect the department and services.
  • Foster effective team work with the Leadership of Wyandot Center, Wyandot, Inc, Kim Wilson Housing, and PACES.
  • Act as a spokesperson for Wyandot Center.
  • Represent the organization at community and state activities to enhance the organization’s community profile and reputation.
  • Lead the department in a manner that recognizes, demonstrates, and promotes the elements of a Trauma-Informed Organization.

Operational Planning and Management:

  • Ensure that the operation of the department meets the expectations of the consumers, the Executive Team, and the CEO.
  • Ensure that psychiatric rehabilitation and recovery services are trauma informed, evidence informed, and coordinated with other community stakeholders.
  • Research, evaluate, and implement newly emerging practices and tools in treatment of persons with mental illness.
  • Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the department.
  • Draft policies and procedures to improve the function and service delivery of the department.
  • Oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of the department’s services, new programs, and grant implementation projects.
  • Ensure that the programs and services offered by the department contribute to the organization’s mission and reflect the values of the organization.
  • Monitor the day-to-day delivery of the programs and services of the department to maintain or improve clinical and administrative quality.

Human Resources Planning and Management:

  • Determine staffing requirements for the effective and efficient delivery of department services.
  • Oversee the implementation of the HR policies, procedures, and practices including the development of job descriptions, evaluations, and disciplinary processes.
  • Establish a positive, healthy, and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate regulations.
  • Assist in the recruitment and selection of staff that have the right abilities to help further the goals of the department, and the organization.
  • Ensure that all staff receives an orientation to the department, and appropriate training to effectively provide quality services.
  • Establish a culture of coaching, mentoring, and supporting staff to be successful in their positions.
  • Utilize appropriate progressive discipline as needed; release staff when necessary using appropriate and legally defensible procedures, and in a timely manner.

Financial Planning and Management:

  • Work with the Executive Team and the CEO to establish budgetary needs and priorities.
  • Work with the Executive Team and Funds Development staff to secure funding for the operations and development of the department.
  • Monitor and approve expenditures within the authority delegated by the CEO.
  • Assure the monthly and annual revenue goals are met by the department, and make actionable plans for adjustments when necessary.
  • Manage monthly and annual spending of the department to adhere to the guidelines / budget established by the CEO / Executive Leadership Team.

Community Relations:

  • Develop strong working relationships with critical community entities including social service agencies, courts, landlords, neighborhood organizations, churches, and funding entities to ensure effective and positive linkages for clients and services.
  • Keep stakeholders informed of the work of the department / organization(s).

Risk Management:

  • Identify and evaluate the risks to the department’s clients, staff, management, volunteers, property, finances, intent, and image and implement measures to control risks.
  • Ensure adherence to Wyandot, Inc.’s policies and procedures for Quality Management and Safety.
  • Participate and contribute to the Quality Improvement processes established by the Executive Team / CEO.
  • Recognize and report all potential risks to the CEO immediately and take quick and active action to resolve risk situations when appropriate.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

Education:

Master's Degree and current clinical licensure in Kansas as a Qualified Mental Health Professional, with preference given to LSCSW.

Experience:

Must have three to five years in behavioral healthcare or behavioral healthcare administration with demonstrated excellence in management and clinical program development.

Skills &Abilities:

  • Familiarity with evidence based practices for Mental Health.
  • Experience and efficiency in program development and startup.
  • Knowledge of leadership and management principles as they relate to non-profit organizations.
  • Knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization
  • Basic knowledge of human resources management
  • Knowledge of financial management or experience managing a departmental budget.
  • Capability to design, direct, and monitor projects and able to initiate and develop solutions in clinical, personnel, and business matters.
  • Ability to provide direction for programming and planning purposes.
  • Comfortable and interested in working well with diverse populations.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders.
