Position Title: Resettlement Program Supervisor

Organization: Jewish Family Service of San Diego

Position Type: Full-Time (37.5 hours per week), Non-Exempt (100% In-Person)

Pay Rate: $23-$25/hour

Department: Refugee Resettlement Services

Location: 6160 Mission Gorge Rd. San Diego, CA 92120

Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the department Director, supervise and collaborate with Resettlement and Placement case managers to provide comprehensive resettlement services for newly arriving refugees and SIVs.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as team supervisor for all new families arriving through R&P program
  • Review requirements of the U.S. Department of State, Reception and Placement Cooperative Agreement requirements and ensure all services provided are withing program compliance
  • Check databases daily to monitor new referrals, assure cases agency has accepted and keep up to date on refugee arrival status
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings with team to ensure follow up on all items, follow up on each active case and identify items to complete as a team/individual
  • Upon receipt of refugee arrival dates, immediately commence reception and placement planning with R&P team
  • Supervise the Refugee Resettlement Case Managers to ensure all federally required services are conducted correctly and within compliance as outlined by contract
  • Manage and create partnerships with property managers to secure adequate housing for newly arriving refugees that meets program housing requirements
  • Serve as representative for resettlement program to increase community support, liaison with donors and create new partnerships for long term integration
  • Collaborate with local health and human service agencies to ensure refugees are connected to benefit support programs
  • Coordinate refugee pickups at airport, transportation to their prepared and furnished apartments/homes.
  • Oversee financial disbursements and approvals to refugees and on their behalf
  • Ensure that a comprehensive individualized resettlement service plan is developed and implemented for each refugee within 30 days of arrival
  • Screen clients for additional program referrals as necessary from integration classes to intensive medical case management
  • Review documentation of service in database and physical files to ensure services are compliant and complete prior to end of program
  • Conduct home visits and client interventions as needed
  • Meet with case managers to evaluate service plan for clients, review current financial expenses per individual and identify new resources for each individual
  • Complete exit surveys with clients at the completion of the program to ensure quality of case management is compliant, review wraparound services and referrals are in place to secure long term success
  • Complete and submit the 90-day reports for all refugee arrivals per the cooperative agreement requirement.
  • Communicate with HIAS and other community partners on an ongoing manner to ensure strong communication to support new arrivals
  • Participate in collaborative meetings with partners and other refugee service providers in the community and build new partnerships to connect refugees to resources and support
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications

  • Understanding of U.S. Refugee Admissions Program
  • Familiarity with state benefits affecting refugees and immigrants
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience required
  • Experience successfully working with refugee and/or immigrant populations and able to engage with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience in providing direct supervision preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Must be organized, creative, and have initiative
  • Proficient in computer and administrative skills
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule is required (including evenings and weekends)
  • Valid California Driver’s License and operating vehicle with insurance required
