Share Email Opening Title Water Distribution & Collections, Construction Maintenance Supervisor  Location City of Griffin   Description   This position is responsible for supervising the construction, repair and maintenance of the city’s water distribution and/or wastewater collection system. Supervises water or wastewater construction and maintenance personnel in the performance of installations, preventative and emergency maintenance duties. Supervises and participates in the repair of broken water or sewer mains. Supervises and participates in the location and repair of water leaks. Supervises and participates in the installation of water meters. Supervises and participates in the installation and repair of fire hydrants. Ensures compliance with safety procedures. Inspects vehicles and equipment to ensure safety and functionality; coordinates the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Completes required reports. Maintains equipment and supply inventory. Processes work orders. Responds to after-hours emergencies. Performs related duties.   Position Requirements Knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, and procedures used in the installation, repair, and maintenance of water and wastewater systems. Knowledge of city and departmental policies and procedures. Knowledge of state specifications relevant to water and wastewater maintenance. Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices. Skill in planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the work of personnel engaged in water and wastewater system maintenance. Skill in the use of a variety of job-related equipment and tools. Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions. Skill in the supervision of personnel. High School diploma or GED. Some college preferred. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years of experience or service. Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
