Water Distribution & Collections, Construction Maintenance Supervisor

Description

 

This position is responsible for supervising the construction, repair and maintenance of the city’s water distribution and/or wastewater collection system.

  • Supervises water or wastewater construction and maintenance personnel in the performance of installations, preventative and emergency maintenance duties.
  • Supervises and participates in the repair of broken water or sewer mains.
  • Supervises and participates in the location and repair of water leaks.
  • Supervises and participates in the installation of water meters.
  • Supervises and participates in the installation and repair of fire hydrants.
  • Ensures compliance with safety procedures.
  • Inspects vehicles and equipment to ensure safety and functionality; coordinates the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
  • Completes required reports.
  • Maintains equipment and supply inventory.
  • Processes work orders.
  • Responds to after-hours emergencies.
  • Performs related duties.
 
Position Requirements
  • Knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, and procedures used in the installation, repair, and maintenance of water and wastewater systems.
  • Knowledge of city and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of state specifications relevant to water and wastewater maintenance.
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
  • Skill in planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the work of personnel engaged in water and wastewater system maintenance.
  • Skill in the use of a variety of job-related equipment and tools.
  • Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
  • Skill in the supervision of personnel.
  • High School diploma or GED. Some college preferred.
  • Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years of experience or service.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain an appropriate state-certified license for water or wastewater or distribution as appropriate.

Hourly Rate of Pay minimum of $21.99 including competitive benefits package and generous pension plan.
