Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

 

This position will be located in Midland, Texas OR Tulsa, Oklahoma

This position is responsible for developing the process simulation P&ID’s, sizing of all equipment, piping components, valves, etc. This position will work closely with business development, project management, contractors, and clients.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Provide information throughout the proposal, engineering, and construction phases to the team regarding all aspects of process engineering.
  • Perform a thorough review of a customer’s inquiry and request for Process Design information.
  • Perform processing simulations and develop process flow diagrams and heat and material balances.
  • Develop P&IDs and line sizing for process units, utility, and offsite units for proposals and projects.
  • Perform energy analysis of the current process design to previous, to ensure a competitive design as well as to perform capital, utility, and product value estimates to determine viability of the project.
  • Prepare material selection diagram for plant requirements.
  • Assist in developing plant control philosophy.
  • Calculate plant recoveries and utility requirements; able to recommend guarantee levels.
  • Develop battery limit lists including line lists, equipment list and initial instrument list.
  • Create logic diagrams and cause and effect charts for the facility.
  • Design and size safety relieve valves.
  • Flare system analysis and final reporting to include sizing the relief valve inlet and outlet line sizing.
  • Define mechanical design conditions for equipment and piping components.
  • Participate in model reviews of the plant.
  • Review vendor equipment drawings.
  • Assist in plant start up and performance testing as required.
  • Provide information throughout the proposal, engineering, and construction phases to the proposal and project teams regarding all aspects of process engineering.
  • Develop, configure, and optimize processing systems.
  • Develop best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve production delivery and quality as well as safety and environmental compliance and sustainability.
  • Regularly review and update relevant engineering technical and operations documentation.
  • Create/establish utility reports.
  • Prepare/comment on PFD’s and P&ID’s.
  • Define instruments (control valves and valves) and produce the associated datasheets.
 
Position Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: .

 

  • Proven computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) typing. and ability to write reports
  • Knowledge in developing sizing information for process equipment, including compressors, pumps, heat exchanges, flares, distillation columns, separators, tanks, etc., and provide information in the form of equipment datasheets
  • Ability to develop ideas and alternatives to be cost competitive
  • Capable of providing technical expertise to business development and project execution team
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic calculations: checking the critical line routing, calculations for thermosiphon re-boilers, and necessary calculations for pump NPSH requirements
  • Able to size equipment and define mechanical design conditions for equipment and piping components
  • Good communications skills, both verbal and writing skills with management, colleagues, and clients
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of material balance, process engineering, process controls, plant hydraulics, and process safety management
  • Able to work with minimum supervision, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines
  • Creative, innovative and detail oriented
  • Good understanding of oil and gas production systems and experience in process design of central tank batteries and saltwater disposal facilities.

 

EDUCATION, LICENSES AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license with Texas is required
  • 5 years of experience using Aspen Hysys process simulation software required
  • Minimum of 7 years of process engineering experience; experience within the oil and gas industry preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Chemical Engineering or other relevant degree program)
