Description

Overview
The Education and Digital Program Manager primarily develops, oversees and directly executes education and digital programs in order to deepen youth, family, and community engagement with Hitsville Next and the Motown Museum in fulfilment of the museum’s mission.

Essential Functions
• Oversee and execute existing educational programming initiatives such as Ignite and Spark Summer Camps, the Lyric Project Workshop, Music Production and Recording Engineering classes, Master Class Series and lead and contribute to the ongoing development of curriculum objectives designed to support key educational programming of Hitsville Next.

• Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to conceptualize and create new digital engagement content for various digital outlets including web, in-gallery interactive projects, mobile apps, social media and other outlets.

• Upgrade existing educational material and develop new educational content like, but not limited to, commercials, sizzle reels, and educational program highlights.

• Collaborate with internal and external evaluators to track and report program participation and demographics, make continual improvements to programs, and measure program outcomes and impacts.

• Continually monitor programs, instructors, contractors, and volunteers for quality assurance and program relevance to the state and national standards and best practices in youth development.

• Schedule and supervise programming contract teaching artists, instructors, camp counselors, guest speakers, and volunteers.

• Represent Motown Museum at community and professional meetings, conferences and speaking engagements that support the Museum’s mission.

• Support Museum community programming and exhibition/installation efforts and find opportunities for overlap; offer creative input and solutions.

 
Position Requirements

Competencies
• Experience in developing participatory experiences for adults and children
• Demonstrated community organizing skills, especially with Title 1 schools and/or out-of-school organizations serving low-income, disadvantaged, and/or culturally diverse students and families.
• Proficiency in music production, music business and recording engineering a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; technologically savvy
• Relationship with local arts and education community a plus
• Experience editing various video projects and inserting sound effects, music and transitions a plus
• A self-starter, forward-thinker, and creative problem-solver that works with minimum supervision
• Able to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
• Exceptional verbal and written communication; and interpersonal skills
• Able to prioritize, follow-up, and complete assignments on a timely basis
• Wise and efficient management of time, effort, and other resources

Supervisory Responsibility
Yes. Supervises Programming Teaching Artists, Instructors, Camp Counselors, Guest Speakers, Interns and Volunteers.

Work Environment
This position operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such
as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands/Strength
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and use
repetitive motions. The employee is occasionally required to reach, handle, grasp, talk, and hear.
Rarely, does the position require standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing,
balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, feeling, and eye/hand/foot coordination. The
position requires little physical effort.

Environmental Conditions
Loud noise. (recording studio, performances on porch, etc.)

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Salaried. This position occasionally requires weekend work and some evenings.

Travel
Regular travel to local meetings. Some overnight travel. Must have reliable transportation and a
valid driver license.

Education/Experience
Bachelor Degree
At least two years of project management experience in liberal or creative arts environment
