The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, initiatives, and collections. Welcoming visitors from Los Angeles and around the world, the Museum works in active partnership with motion picture artists and specialists, scholars, staff, and diverse communities to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema, inspiring discourse, connection, joy, and discovery.

 

The Security Operations Center (SOC) Operator, is responsible for monitoring equipment and devices that may include cameras, security access and anti-theft device, intrusion, radio communication and fire life safety systems. You will maintain the daily Security Operations log and report deviations from normal operating conditions to a supervisor. You will also, dispatch resources to calls for service, emergencies, earthquake recovery and fire protection measures according to defined AMMP Security Operations Center procedures. SOC Operators may also be scheduled for security officer posts.

 

The candidate must be able to work a variable schedule to include weekends and holidays.

 

You Will:

  • Monitor security surveillance cameras, access control and art protection systems
  • Answer phones; operate IP based telephone system
  • Operate radio; use multi-channel communications
  • Complete call logging, data entry and provide detailed documentation (e.g. Officer Dispatch, Incident Reporting)
  • Provide afterhours operations support
  • Ensure procedures and protocols are in place to effectively respond to incidents, alarms, notifications, and calls
  • Receive and respond to emergency and non-emergency calls from employees, outside vendors, law enforcement, and the security field force via telephone, automated alarm monitoring and radio systems
  • Ensure all systems within the SOC are functioning properly
  • Evaluate information and respond with the appropriate communication and dispatch procedures
  • Maintain discretion when sensitive and confidential information is revealed
  • Retain and retrieve information in the form of policies, bulletins, verbal reports, and training
  • Remain calm in emergency situations
  • Be able to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • 1+ year of experience is required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Guard card/security license according to state requirements
  • Demonstrated high level of competency with advanced computer systems (e.g., hardware, software and networks)
  • An average typing speed of 45WPM
  • Demonstrated ability to operate radio, telephone equipment and/or console monitors
  • Proficiency operating Security and Mass Communications (e.g., Genetec, Forteco, Guardtek, Everbridge.)
  • Flexibility to work various shifts
  • Ability work with people from diverse backgrounds
