As a Structural Project Engineer at Bolton & Menk, you will work with project engineers and managers to complete preliminary and final design packages for various bridges and structures. You will create studies and reports, perform design calculations, assist in plan development, write specifications, review shop drawings and make field visits. Projects will range from highway infrastructure projects such as various interchange, pedestrian and river crossing bridges, to retaining walls and parking structures, to industrial buildings such as water or wastewater treatment facilities.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Perform detailed design computations
- Project layout and design in Microstation
- Prepare and/or present preliminary reports and feasibility studies
- Prepares, supervises and reviews the design and preparation of plans, specifications, cost estimates and quantity take-off's.
- Travel to work sites and other project related locations as required
- Maintain and enhance skills through continuing education at a level sufficient to meet or exceed state licensure requirements
- Plan and organize project assignments by directing work of other engineers and technicians
- Assist in the training and development of professional staff
- Oversee the planning, scheduling and performance of multiple engineering projects
- Support business development opportunities
- Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies.
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Minimum 6 years of progressive experience
- Licensed Professional Engineer in MN
- Meets the state requirements to maintain required licenses
- Must have working knowledge of Microstation
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Excellent time management skills and problem solving skills
- Effective Supervisory, Management and Team Leadership skills.
- Possess valid driver's license and is insurable at firm's standard rates.
- Thorough knowledge and skills in CAD and design software
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited college or University
- Past experience in bridge design and plan preparation
- Knowledge and experience with AASHTO manuals
- Familiarity with MnDOT standards and practices
- Working knowledge of Microstation or Civil 3D software packages
- Experience with finite element analysis
- Proficiency in common bridge engineering software (RCPier, Conspan, MathCad, Staad, etc.)
- Bridge inspection training and load rating experience
