Primary Responsibility: The Youth Program Leader helps to plan, organize and implement programs for youth aged 5-17 years, and is responsible for helping with the care, education and recreational activities of all participating youth. The Program Leader is responsible for direct implementation of the curriculum as designed by the Child and Youth Grant Project Coordinator. Other duties include general clerical work, ensuring program complies with State standards, parent communication, and program promotion.

Main Job Duties:

 

  • Helps plan, develop, and implement curriculum and activities for youth programs, including the coordination of field trips, events, guests, and the use of other facilities.

 

  • Establishes and maintains a safe and healthy learning environment by preventing accidents; mitigating the spread of illness; posting appropriate health and safety information; designing appropriate room arrangement to support the care and safety of youth; and enforcing and abiding by all safety, health, and sanitation policies and procedures.

 

  • Leads program participants in daily activities including organized play, structured classes, and other programs as they are developed.

 

  • Supervises youth to ensure positive interaction with each other, staff, and guests.

 

  • Maintains even control of classes and resolves behavior conflicts.

 

  • Ensures fair and equitable treatment of, and equal access to resources for all youth participants.

 

  • Communicates relevant and necessary information with parents, youth, and staff.

 

  • Performs general duties necessary to the success of the county youth programs.

 

 

 

Additional Job Duties:

 

  • Performs other appropriate functions as assigned by the Child and Youth Grant Project Coordinator and/or Director of Human Services pertaining to county youth programs.

 

 

 

 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

 

  • Education: High School graduate or equivalent.

 

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.

 

  • Ability to:

 

  1. Accurately and effectively transmit and receive information that is necessary to the accomplishment of goals and objectives, including effective written and oral communications in English; and the ability to listen.

 

  1. Establish and maintain courteous and effective working relationships with employees, children and parents, the public and other agencies. Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.

 

  1. Understand and follow moderately complex oral and written instructions.

 

  1. Work efficiently and effectively as a team member within the department.

 

  1. Exercise independent judgment and critical thought.

 

  1. Demonstrate self-motivation in resolving issues without awaiting a directive.

 

  • Must possess excellent skills in organization of time and responsibilities.

 

  • Must demonstrate an ability to work with children and youth.

 

  • Must pass background check including traffic, Central Registry (Trails) and CBI fingerprint checks.

 

Certifications:

 

  • Current First Aid, CPR and Standard Precautions certification or successful completion of such training within 90 days of employment.

 

  • Possession of a valid Colorado Driver’s license without any restriction due to driving record is preferred.

Experience:

  • Must be at least 18 years old with 3 months (460 hours) of full-time or equivalent part-time satisfactory and verifiable experience with school-age children.
 
Full-Time/Part-Time Part-Time  
Salary Information Hiring Range $13.35- $14.43 depending on experience. Salary Range: $13.75- $19.90
