We are seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will:

• Design foundations for mechanical and electrical equipment. 
• Design various auxiliary systems for vessels. 
• Systems include main and auxiliary propulsion, fuel systems, lubrication systems, seawater and fresh water systems, potable water, chilled water, compressed air, fire extinguishing, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. 
• Systems include power generation and distribution, electric propulsion and power electronics, centralized machinery monitoring and control, lighting systems, interior communication systems, alarm systems, and navigation systems. 
• Perform ship inspections for modernization of existing systems. 
• Perform analyses and studies, and develop reports, drawings, and specifications to reflect design results. 

 
Position Requirements

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or Structural Engineering.
• At least 1-5 years of experience in mechanical systems design and analysis. 
• Proficiency in MS Office software and AutoCAD or other CAD type software.
• Ability to apply comprehensive knowledge of engineering practices and techniques to complex situations and non-routine tasks. 
• Ability to interact and present technical information verbally and in writing (reports, specifications, drawings, etc.) to internal and external customers.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. 
 

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience:


• Degree from an ABET accredited program. 
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
• Experience in marine electrical systems design and analysis.
• Familiarity with U.S. Navy, USCG, ABS, and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.
• Proficiency in FEMAP/NASTRAN, PIPE-FLO, MathCAD, software.
