Description

Under direction of the Kitchen Supervisor, the food service workers are responsible for high quality, nutritious meal preparation, and general operations of a commercial kitchen.

  • Role and Responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare meals and snacks as outlined by menu and recipe guidelines and as directed by the Food Service Manager.
  • Maintains high standard of cleanliness of kitchen area and equipment.
  • Assists in maintaining dining areas and other kitchen equipment throughout the building to ensure cleanliness and sanitization.
  • Understands and follows all health department, government and Council on Accreditation regulations which apply to this agency.
  • Safely handles, labels, stores, and stocks cleaning supplies and chemicals.
  • Informs appropriate individual of needed supplies before products are exhausted.
  • Assists in arrangements and food / beverage preparation for special events and meetings such as banquets, board meetings, luncheons, and trainings.
  • Assists with set-up, take-down, and clean-up of agency events.
  • Identifies and resolves safety and cleanliness issues as they arise.
  • Assists with donations; storage, pick up and dissemination as needed.
  • Assists with volunteers as required by the Food Service Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Attend meetings and trainings as required by the agency.

Position Requirements

Education: High School Diploma / GED

License: N/A

Experience: Commercial Food Preparation and Kitchen experience required. Knowledge of basic nutritional requirements is preferred.

Qualifications: The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Emotionally able to work with information that may be traumatic in nature, as well as, work with individuals or families in crisis or experiencing trauma.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Work involves talking, stooping, squatting, twisting, climbing, kneeling, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to sit and use computer workstation, including keyboard and visual display terminal for extended periods of time.
  • Noise in the work environment is usually moderately quiet but can be very loud at times.
  • Work in an environment with various degrees of discomfort.
