Description

I. Job Summary

Provides leadership and direction for the agency's adoption services. Ensures prompt and appropriate adoptive services for families interested in adoption and children available for adoption. Provides leadership to the quality processes and assists in assuring compliance with all regulatory standards and rules as they relate to adoption services.

II. Job Relationships

    1. Responsible to: Child Welfare Program Director.
    1. Workers Supervised: Adoption Case Managers, Contractual Adoption Workers, Wendy's Wonderful Kids Recruiter

  4. Also provides administrative support to the Child Welfare Program Director and teams within the agency.

IV. Job Responsibilities

  1. Key Duties and Responsibilities
    1. Meet with and provide orientation to prospective adoptive parents.
    2. Assess, evaluate, and make recommendations regarding adoptive applicants.
    3. Develop and implement adoption plans for children referred for adoption services.
    4. Complete necessary paperwork for adoption, including filing adoption petition, applying for adoption subsidy, and preparing non-identifying information.
    5. Coordinate adoptive services with staff from STVCC and other agencies.
    6. Prepare and submit supervision, placement, billing and statistical reports as required by STVCC, Court and DHS.
    7. Assist adoptee and adoptive families in locating supplementary services or other post-adoptive services.
    8. Provide adoption intermediary services to persons seeking non-identifying search and reunion information.
    9. Provide supervision to adoption case managers.
    10. Oversee the Adoption Support Group
    11. Completes all required administrative and programmatic tasks in a timely manner.
  2. Other Duties and Responsibilities
    1. Participates in regular and on-going supervision, consulting, informing the Child Welfare Program Director on work-related issues.
    2. Participate in 24 hour on-call rotation with Child Welfare Managers
    3. Will participate in any additional, reasonable responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Child Welfare Program Director.

Position Requirements

V. Job Specifications

  1. Experience: shall possess one of the following:
    1. A Master’s Degree in social work is preferred, or a Bachelor’s Degree in a human behavioral science and 4 years of experience as a social service worker, 2 years of which are in an agency or in a child caring institution, or in an agency in a child welfare function.

Physical Demands: The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Emotionally able to work with information that may be traumatic in nature, as well as, work with individuals or families in crisis or experiencing trauma.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Work involves talking, stooping, squatting, twisting, climbing, kneeling, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to sit and use computer workstation, including keyboard and visual display terminal for extended periods of time.
  • Noise in the work environment is usually moderately quiet but can be very loud at times.
  • Work in an environment with various degrees of discomfort.
  • Driving as needed throughout the day.
