Position Title: Lead Parent Educator (North Region)

Department: Positive Parenting Program

Position Type: Full-time, non-exempt

Pay Rate: $25.65 hour

Position Overview

The Lead Parent Educator will manage day to day regional parent education activities in the Positive Parenting Program. In consultation with the Program Director, the Lead Parent Educator (South Regions) and the Positive Parenting team, this position is responsible for:

  • Supervising and coaching a small team of Parent Education staff;
  • Actively supporting staff with facilitation of Positive Parenting Seminars, Groups and Individual sessions;
  • Directly facilitate at least 2 Positive Parenting Seminar series and 1 Individual per month;
  • Working with the Director and staff, outreach to and engage with potential sites to ensure the Program is sufficiently known in the prioritized communities;
  • Provide ongoing monitoring of staff fidelity to the Triple P evidence-based practice and collection of necessary paperwork;
  • Building a team environment amongst Parent Education staff and the Positive Parenting team

Responsibilities:

1. Provide parenting skills instruction adhering to Triple P curriculum

  1. Conduct Prevention and Early Intervention Parent Education including the Selected Triple P Seminar series, Primary Care Individual and Group series in Head Start sites, elementary schools and community locations as needed to ensure the Program achieves contracted goals.
  2. Maintain current and accurate versions of required paperwork.
  3. Accurately submit all paperwork and evaluation data according to deadlines, following program protocols.
  4. Outreach to and engage with families appropriate to the program, including attending parent meetings, community outreach events, distribution of posters/flyers, making follow-up calls, communication with teachers and/or site directors.
  5. Evaluate the need for additional resources and assist staff in making referrals for mental health treatment or other necessary supports to encourage overall wellness in consultation with Program Director.
  6. Ensure incentives are provided consistently during Positive Parenting classes.

2. Monitor and Oversee Quality of Services

  1. Ensure staff's compliance with program curricula and updating of program materials.
  2. Regularly monitor PPP Seminars, Groups, and Individual sessions
  3. Provide support to Parent Education staff on fidelity to Triple P America curriculum and training needs to best support families.
  4. Act accordingly as a mandated reporter, within the legal time frame appropriate for reporting suspected child abuse activity; and assist at the school level in reporting suspected child abuse activity to County authorities.
  5. Assist in maintaining current and accurate versions of required paperwork for supervisorial duties.
  6. Monitor submission of all paperwork and evaluation materials according to deadlines.
  7. Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality for staff, clients, the agency, and the community, as appropriate/required.

3. Supervise Positive Parenting Program Staff and Program Activities

Less than 50% of time will be spent on the following:

  1. Assist the Director with hiring and training program staff.
  2. Supervise Parent Educators work.
  3. Regularly schedule supervision meetings with staff.
  4. Coordinate Parent Education class schedule and assign staff.

5. Ongoing Tasks

  1. Regularly visit and outreach at sites in assigned regions
  2. Create an environment of open communication and balanced teamwork.
  3. Coordinate outreach and program engagement among Head Start, community, military, and elementary school locations.
  4. Demonstrate ongoing communication with Program Director, Program Data Specialist and Office Coordinator to ensure Positive Parenting class needs and grant expectations are met.
  5. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
 
Position Requirements

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience:

  • At least 2+ years of prior management experience required
  • Licensed or licensed-eligible mental health clinician preferred
  • Formal recognition as a Triple P provider preferred
  • Training or experience working in the areas of child and adult development
  • Excellent public speaking skills
  • Must have experience working with children/ family services within the previous five years
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal and oral and written communication
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be available to work evenings and possibly weekends
  • Must pass background check(s) and pre-employment drug screen

Language Skills:

  • Fluent in English
  • Bilingual and bicultural (Arabic, Spanish, or Vietnamese) preferred
  • Good to excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills
  • Excellent telephone and oral communication skills
  • Ability to write well (e.g., memos, reports, e-mails, agendas, minutes)
