We are seeking a Deputy Program Manager to join our team in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will:

  • Assume principle responsibility for the management of cost, schedule, and subcontracts.
  • Work with a project analyst to monitor expenditures.
  • Estimate future spending based on spending trends and monthly reports.
  • Develop and recommend cost control measures.
  • Monitor progress of Program deliverables and maintain an integrated Program schedule.
  • Develop and recommend corrective action in order to maintain the Program schedule.
  • Develop and implement appropriate project controls
  • Ensure all Program deliverables undergo peer review before delivery to the customer.
  • Establish and maintain a tracking system to ensure reviews are conducted and that comments from peer reviewers and the customer are resolved and addressed appropriately in customer deliverables.
  • Provide technical oversight in areas of assigned responsibility, including monitoring subcontractor technical performance.
  • Ensure technical and programmatic risks have been identified and are being tracked.
  • Actively participate in issue and risk resolution.

 

 
Position Requirements

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering. We may consider candidates with a technical degree (science or IT) with demonstrated experience in managing a complex hardware-development effort.
  • At least 15 years of experience in engineering and/or product development – at least 5 of which must be in a supervisory role
  • At least 5 years of experience working in a Defense Department acquisition program
  • Demonstrated experience in communication with senior military officers or U.S. Government officials (Product Manager or higher)
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • M.S. in Electrical, Marine, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience working on a U.S. Navy acquisition program
  • Experience working on a U.S. Navy shipbuilding program
  • Experience working within a formal quality assurance program such as ISO 9000 or NQA-1
  • Understanding of Earned-Value Management System
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence principles and/or autonomous systems
  • PMP Certification
