Substance Abuse Expansion Grant Registered Nurse

Are you ready to your fellow nurses in ensuring optimal wellness for patient at Northern Nevada HOPES? The Substance Abuse Expansion Grant nurse, under the supervision and direction of the Director of Nursing, develops, implements, evaluates and manages the care and education of behavioral health patients at HOPES and out in the community through the FQHC Substance Abuse Expansion Grant program. This nurse will work within the multidisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care for behavioral health, substance abuse recipients at HOPES and those encountered through the FQHC Substance Abuse Expansion Grant community outreach initiative. This position will serve as an active part of the treatment team and bridge between primary care, Medication Assisted Treatment, the FQHC Substance Abuse Expansive Grant community outreach initiative and Behavioral Health.

The Substance Abuse Expansion Grant nurse will complete nursing assessments for patients including the PHQ-9 Depression Screening and AIMS testing. This RN will also provide education, medication administration (emphasis on psychotropic medications and those associated with Medication Assisted Treatment) and management and assist with patient referral and accessing collateral services. As a member of the treatment team, this nurse will provide feedback on treatment goals and be an integral aspect of the patient's overall wellness.

Position Requirements

We're looking for:

  • Completion of accredited nursing education program.
  • Registered Nurse in good standing in the State of Nevada
  • Work with dual-diagnosed patients in an integrated health environment; prior psychiatric nursing experience.
  • Knowledge of medical procedures, terminology, and equipment.
  • Patient assessment skills. Ability to apply good clinical judgment. Ability to plan work, establish priorities, and remain flexible.
  • Understanding of HIPAA requirements and able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to instruct/teach.
  • Knowledge of Medication Assisted Treatment and Psychiatric Disorders
  • Skilled in administration of psychotropic drug administration, interactions and adverse side effects.
  • Someone who loves to be challenged, because you will be daily
  • Patience is not just a virtue here, it is a vital skill
  • Bilingual a plus
