Description

JOB PURPOSE:

Assist in the efficient operation of all programs by performing facility and grounds maintenance and repairs including preventive, routine and emergency. Work is in a fast-paced, demanding environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

70% Perform work as assigned including but not limited to make-readies, dry wall repair and painting, change light bulbs and a/c filters, minor plumbing, carpentry and electrical, etc.

15% Perform and document facility walk-throughs and checklist inspections. Check for plumbing leaks as well as observing condition of lights, equipment, windows, doors and locks, a/c units and toilets. Check for and remove all graffiti. Perform needed repairs within scope of knowledge, reporting all others to Facilities Supervisor.

10% Assist program staff with furniture moving, document/picture hanging, donation pick-ups, trash removal, etc.

5% Complete and maintain paperwork:
• Billed hours and mileage reimbursement forms
• Maintenance service requests
• PM checklists, work logs and inspection reports

Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Vocational/trade certificate a plus.

EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years experience in general maintenance and repair. 1-3 years in a customer service focused environment.

ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer’s sole discretion.

LICENSES: Drivers License and clear record.

VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice.

OTHER: Ability to work on an on-call basis and report on short notice. Must be available and willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as required to meet business needs. Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates. Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others.

EXCEPTIONS TO THESE CRITERIA MUST BE APPROVED BY THE DEPARTMENT HEAD.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

COMMUNICATION: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively via oral and written means. Ability to present a friendly and positive demeanor to clients served, staff vendors and the general public. Bilingual a plus.

COMPOSURE: Ability to remain calm and maintain self-control in the midst of difficult circumstances and emergencies. Ability to respond in a professional manner in all situations.

COMPUTER: Basic knowledge of computers. Prefer experience with MS Office. 25 WPM.

TECHNICAL: Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, dry walling and various interior repair work. Knowledge of operating compressor, power and hand tools.
