Mental Health Technician - Lester Paul's Place PRN

Accountabilities:

  • Ensure that all clients seen are treated with dignity and respect, and experience effective yet minimally restrictive interventions. Meet or exceed the organization’s access standards for timely service.
  • Meet or exceed departmental goals and expectations.
  • Ensure that each client receives the highest level and quality of services available.
  • Actively research and engage in the identification of internal and external resources and benefits which may be advantageous to the clients being served. Ensure all clients are appropriately connected to resources necessary for them to accomplish their expected treatment plans and outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain respectful, courteous and professional relationships with all clients and their families. Work closely with all others involved in delivery of services to ensure that client needs are being met.
  • Maintain positive, effective working relationships with other staff members, volunteers, donors, vendors, and other internal resource relationships critical to the efficient and effective operation of the organization.
  • Uphold and ensure all activities and conduct are compliant with internal policies, as well as all relevant laws and regulations. Model the values and the mission of the organization at all times, and act as good stewards of the organization’s resources.
  • Demonstrate behaviors that contribute to team cohesion and result in a positive, effective work team environment.
  • Establish a trusting relationship with the client, convey hope and respect.
  • Assist in providing structured and constructive activities that support the client’s treatment.
  • Assist clients with learning and practicing daily living and social skills, with an emphasis on skills related to being successful in independent living.
  • Assist client in completing daily living tasks as needed.
  • Assist clients with problem-solving daily living situations
  • Prompt clients to take their medications daily, as prescribed
  • Complete all required documentation thoroughly, on time and according to agency standards.
  • Provide above services on an individual basis or in a group setting as required.
  • Engage individuals in a positive, constructive, respectful and hopeful manner.
  • Recognize and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural and ethnic differences.
  • Help others succeed by demonstrating exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work with persons with severe and persistent mental illness and the ability to react effectively in a wide variety of human service situations. Effectively manage conflict.
  • Interact positively with other staff, members of the agency and team, including active participation in supervision activities, team meetings and training, etc.
  • Pay Range: $18.00 per hour. Differential of $1.50 for evenings and $4.00 per hour on the weekends

Qualifications:

Professional

  • Prior experience providing effective, efficient healthcare/welfare services work preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with individuals.
  • Demonstrated good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated dependability and regular attendance in the workplace

Education

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Physical/Environmental/Other

  • Emotional capacity to control and manage self if clients act out or behave in a verbal or physical manner.
  • Emotional and physical capacity to manage clients who may act out or behave in a verbal or physical manner.
  • Valid driver’s license, liability insurance.
  • Work in an often stressful environment, including availability to respond to crisis situations at all times (nights, weekends, holidays, etc.).
  • Ability to effectively use all devices, equipment, computer systems required to fulfill the essential functions of this position.
  • Must meet all relevant licensing, credentialing, etc. requirements.
