Therapist Mental Health PACES South  

Description

Purpose:

To provide admission evaluations and provide short-term therapeutic services. Will assist in other PACES functions as needed.

Accountabilities:

CLIENT CARE

  • Will complete an intake evaluation for each assigned client family, to include an assessment (i.e. CATS), a diagnosis determination, and a treatment plan development. Will schedule the follow-up appointments necessary in both calendars used at PACES South.
  • Will provide specialized therapeutic interventions as appropriate to client need, training, and experience, including trauma-informed practices.
  • Will implement all protocols necessary for services: such as administration of the Alcohol Assessment (CRAFFT) & Counseling, Depression Assessment (PHQ-9), the Columbia Risk Assessment, NOMS, and others as developed in the future for CARF.
  • Will identify strengths and needs of client families and act to involve them in planning for desired services promoting client choice and collaboration. Will inform client families of community resources for educational, cultural, recreational, and social activities.
  • Will work with other staff (i.e., case managers, medication provider, Sunflower House staff) to provide increased support to a client at risk of hospitalization or out of home placement; also, to secure adequate services, resource acquisition and resource coordination as needed. Will help with coordination of care as appropriate.

 

ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS

  • Will maintain an updated caseload with treatment plans and discharges completed timely.
  • Will reach the necessary goals for service contacts and for progress note timeliness.
  • Will fulfill office hours as scheduled, will communicate with supervisor about any changes, will update schedule promptly and enter leave requests timely.
  • Will maintain a professional stance with prompt replies to email/phone requests from client families and team members. Will ensure all appointments are pre-scheduled and contact information is consistently updated for emergency situations.
  • Will maintain an excellent working relationship with team members and community partners. Will attend meetings as requested by Sunflower House and PACES (All-Staff, MDT).
  • Will collect and submit data of outcomes as needed for agency, grants, and/or accreditation (VOCA Timesheets, Parent Surveys, CATS or other assessments, etc.).
  • Will attend supervision meetings as scheduled by supervisor and weekly team meetings.
  • Will comply with all QI directions (ethical and legal guidance, QR feedback), PACES policies and CARF requirements (i.e. Annual Documentation updates, clinical supervision options, educational leave/funds, etc.).

Qualifications:

Education: Possesses Master’s degree in social science field, with relevant licensure by Kansas Board of Behavioral Sciences.

Experience: Experience treating trauma and sexual abuse with children. Familiar with mental health theory and practice.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to recognize and be sensitive to cultural and ethnic differences.
  • Communicates directly and effectively in a cooperative manner with colleagues and representatives of other agencies.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and as needed after-hours coverage.
  • Must be able to safely perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

 

Other:

  • Clearance through Kansas Child Abuse/Neglect Registry, Adult Abuse Registry and criminal background check through Validity Screening Solutions and Medicaid/Medicare reimbursable inquires.
  • Eligible for Medicaid reimbursement.

Location/Travel/Work Conditions and Considerations:

Assigned duties will require activity at various community sites, as well as in youth’s homes.
