A Pediatric Physician is a member of the medical provider team, providing medical care to patients of Northern Nevada HOPES.

The Pediaric Physician is responsible for diagnosing and treating a variety of diseases and injuries as a Care Team member in the medical clinic using best practices as modeled in a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) setting; by providing comprehensive, outpatient pediatric medical services for patients on a continuing basis. The Pediatric Physician is a member of the multidisciplinary clinic team that hast delegated powers and responsibilities to provide effective patient-centered care.

Position Requirements

* Due to real and potential conflicts of interest that exist when HOPES Behavioral Health providers render services to their coworkers, it is HOPES’ policy (Policy HR0005) that HOPES employees may not access HOPES Behavioral Health Services. For the same reason, current Behavioral Health patients/clients cannot be employed by HOPES. Accordingly, you hereby acknowledge and understand that if you are receiving services from a HOPES Behavioral Health provider at the time you are offered and accept employment with HOPES, you have the option of rescinding your acceptance of employment or finding a new behavioral health provider outside of HOPES before starting employment with HOPES.

  • Graduate of an accredited medical school, residency program and board-certified/eligible in pediatrics.
  • Must be current and unrestricted medical license in the State of Nevada: MD or DO upon hire.
  • Active NV state Pharmacy and DEA license, including controlled substance prescribing.
  • Valid BLS required prior to hire, per HRSA compliance.
  • Knowledge of the essential functions, practices and procedures of a medical clinic and office. 
  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10-CM coding. 
  • Knowledge of and ability to diagnose and treat a variety of diseases and injuries in Family Practice primary care setting, acting as part of a Care Team. 
  • Knowledge of skills related to the ability to treat patients in an immediate care internal medicine setting (acute illness and injury appropriate for outpatient level of care).
  • Skill in operating personal computer utilizing electronic medical records, word processing, databases and e-mail. 
  • Skill in operating various office equipment: calculator, copy/scanning machine, fax machine, and telephone.
  • Skill in operating and interpreting various outpatient medical office equipment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information, financial information and medical information. 
  • Ability to read, write legibly, calculate mathematical figures and medication doses. 
  • Ability to solve practical problems dealing with a variety of variables as a Care Team member. 
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in appraising situations and making decisions.
  • Ability to work and interact effectively and positively with other staff members in a Care Team structure to build and to enhance teamwork in the clinics and across the HOPES organization. 
  • Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner. 
  • Ability to interview and communicate either in person or with an interpreter with patients in a clinical setting in English.
  • Ability to understand and respond appropriately, effectively and sensitively to special population groups as defined by race, ethnicity, language, age, sex, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, etc
 
About the Organization Northern Nevada HOPES is a nonprofit community health center operating two clinics and a transitional housing community in the heart of Reno, Nevada. Our one-stop-shop integrated care model helps us meet our patients where they're at and make medical and behavioral health care more accessible to medically under-resourced populations.

Services we offer include adult and pediatric primary care, chronic disease management, nutrition services, behavioral health counseling, substance use counseling and treatment, case management, on-site pharmacies, and more! We accept most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid, and offer discounted services for uninsured patients, so anyone who needs care can access our services.
