Part-time, freelance Copywriter/Proofreader
Stephens Direct is seeking an experienced proofreader/copywriter to fill a part-time freelance role covering a leave of absence (anticipated end of February through May).
As the agency grows, there is a possibility that this could evolve into a full-time position. The proofreading/copywriting function is an integral part of our team. This position requires a highly collaborative and exceptionally detail-oriented individual who can review and improve projects at various points in the process, from concept to production.
The successful candidate must have these qualifications:
- Exceptional writing and editing skills
- Experience evaluating work against brand guidelines and standard usage
- Knowledge of AP style
- The desire to become an advocate for our many world-class brands
- An ability to validate work based on research and source verification
- An exceptional collaborator
- An ability to work well as part of a team
- A tech-forward attitude
- Familiarity with general proofing tools within Adobe Acrobat and Word (and experience with project management software, such as Workamajig, and design collaboration tools, such as Figma, also a plus)
- An innate curiosity and desire to grow
- Ability to stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced, results-driven agency environment
- Able to handle multiple projects for several clients during the same timeframe
- Knowledge of Spanish (desired)
Experience and requirements
- 2+ years demonstrated success in copywriting and proofing marketing communications, preferably in an agency setting
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or equivalent work experience required
- Must be flexible and adaptive to meet changing needs or direction
- At this time, this is a remote role, but a candidate who can work in a hybrid role is preferred
