Job Purpose
The Tooling Attendant shall operate in the functions of Mechanical Engineering Technicians in accordance with plant policies and procedures. He/she will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his/her shift.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Review project instructions and specifications to identify, modify and plan requirements fabrication, assembly and testing.
• Discuss changes in design, method of manufacture and assembly, and drafting techniques and procedures with staff and coordinate corrections.
• Review project instructions and blueprints to ascertain test specifications, procedures, and objectives, and test nature of technical problems such as redesign.
• Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components for products such as industrial machinery or equipment, and measuring instruments.
• Draft detail drawing or sketch for drafting room completion or to request parts fabrication by machine, sheet or wood shops.
• Review work orders and specifications to determine materials needed.
• Operates machine shop tooling and machines: mills, drills, lathes, flame cutters, hoists
• Repairs tooling and fixtures damaged in production.
• Welds and assembles tooling when design is complete to insure function, quality, and safety standards.
• Assembles parts into product and verifies dimensions and alignments.
• Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock to lay out for machining.
• Other duties as assigned.
