Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

 

This position is responsible for keeping the organization’s computer network up-to-date and operating by supporting, configuring, maintaining and upgrading the organization’s network and in house servers.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Install and integrate new server hardware and applications
  • Support and administer third-party applications
  • Monitor changes within the IT industry and potential updates
  • Support and administer third-party applications
  • Ensure network security and connectivity
  • Monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency) and test for weaknesses
  • Set up user accounts, permissions and passwords
  • Resolve problems reported by end user
  • Define network policies and procedures
  • Specify system requirements and design solutions
  • Research and make recommendations on server system administration
 
Position Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

 

  • Explore and solve problems logically and consistently
  • Ability to juggle several projects, people and problems simultaneously using organization and priority management skills
  • Proven interpersonal skills; ability to bridge the gap between diverse groups of people
  • Ability to adapt to change in fast-changing technical environment
  • Ability to set up and configure server hardware
  • Familiar with backup and recovery software and methodologies
  •  

EDUCATION, LICENSES AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a network administrator role
  • Hands on experience in networking, routing and switching
  • Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure
  • Experience with firewalls, Internet VPN's remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution is desired
  • Juniper, Cisco, CWNA or BCNE training preferred
