The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for establishing and managing all corporate quality assurance programs in keeping with strategic goals of the company. Specifically, establishes monitors and maintains the quality system, identifies critical points in manufacturing process and defines sampling procedures. The Quality Assurance Manager is required to interact with multiple plants, distribution centers, and functional departments (including Sales, Marketing, Strategic Sourcing, Manufacturing, Distribution, Consumer Relations and Suppliers) to build collaborative relationships with Department heads and to integrate processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
•Ability to design and develop standardized test methods for product assessment
•Enforcement of product standards, specifications, and/or customer expectations.
•Product disposition execution
•Test and report results for new, existing and competitive products.
•Assigning temporary standards and specification deviations to products, as needed.
•Initiation of new programs, standards, and procedures related to quality improvement.
•Affecting production flow or customer shipments if quality is compromised to an unacceptable level (joint decision with appropriate department heads).
•Justify and acquire laboratory equipment and supplies.
•Ensuring the execution of all planned and systematic activities implemented within the quality system, which include:
     *Assigning sampling and auditing plan to products received into ShurTech
     *Retained sample program management.
     *Management of Supplier Certification Program
     *Inventory control, as it relates to product quality, at any ShurTech facility.
     *Daily manufacturing quality procedures and documentation.
     *Development and maintenance of electronic and hard copy filing systems.
     *Maintenance of quality databases
     *Shelf life management.
     *Supplier corrective actions.
     *Supplier material and non-material charge backs.
     *Equipment calibration.
     *Maintenance of Quality Manual and Quality Management System
•Management of QC Checklists/audits for 3rd party auditors.
•Validation of tests to be performed from specifications by working with Product Development and Packaging Engineers.
•Determine documentation and reporting requirements as needed.
•Support the company’s culture and business mission by promoting communication, building teamwork and always serving the customer (internal and external).
•Make decisions regarding quality issues on a daily basis for product produced by suppliers, and within the organization.
•Develop and enforce quality procedures and activities throughout all ShurTech facilities.
•Drive activity that supports yearly goals and move toward completion throughout the year.
•Actively report quality and product development measures as needed to the company. Including the ability to draft executive summaries and detailed reports that capture quality metrics.
•Work with suppliers during investigation and corrective action implementation of supplier quality issues.
•Work with suppliers to continually improve quality of products and processes.  This would include supplier visits and/or meetings.
•Quickly respond to requests from internal customers to perform quality related activities.
•Provide consumer relations with consumer-related technical information.
•Review laboratory test reports.
•Supervise quality assurance technicians at ShurTech facilities including on-going instruction and education of ShurTech personnel about quality systems and processes.
•Managing the workload and overall performance of QA laboratory staff including interviewing, writing performance reviews and departmental goals as well as monitoring departmental budget.
•Manage daily quality and laboratory activities including testing priorities and quality issue handling.

Position Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or an Engineering discipline or related technical field.
•5+ years’ experience in quality and 3+ management experience leading quality function.
•Formal quality training and certification.
•Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
•Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
•Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, including root cause analysis.

•Work requires hearing, mental and visual attention.
•Able to lift 50 lbs., able to bend and lift frequently, and able to work around dust.
