The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan (BGCSM) is a leading nonprofit in the metro-Detroit area. We are looking to hire a Marketing & Public Relations Associate to help us keep growing. If you're hard-working and dedicated, BGCSM, is an ideal place for your career.

This individual will report to the Senior Director of Marketing and Public Relations and be responsible for supporting strategic marketing and communications announcements including communication planning, working with staff, reporters and influencers; support crafting key messages, graphic designs, blog and op-ed writing and implementing digital content; building internal and external materials. This position will join a highly collaborative, high performing team that works to creatively and effectively shape the BGCSM narrative in support of key business priorities and strategies. The individual will be counted on to work successfully within the organization and to help provide seamless execution to the marketing, public relations and communications function.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to marketing, social media and public relations strategy and roll out development
  • Support marketing and communications report development and maintaining a marketing database
  • Assist with organizing promotional and community relations events
  • Manage online communities to ensure respectful and appropriate engagement
  • Respond to requests for information from the media and staff
  • Write press releases or other media communications to promote BGCSM initiatives
  • Prepare or edit organizational publications, such as employee newsletters or stockholders' reports, for internal or external audiences
  • Support development of public responses to incidents or conflicts
  • Confer with production or support personnel to produce or coordinate production of advertisements or promotions including but not limited to PSAs, promo videos, photoshoots, etc.
  • Proposes new ideas and concepts for social media content
  • Support management of marketing and public relations interns
  • Effectively manage daily administrative marketing and public relations tasks
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Position Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years-experience in digital/social media marketing, public relations and/or related field
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience in graphic design and social media coordination applications such as Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, Canva, Hootsuite, Later, etc.
  • Knowledge of creating and maintaining media relationships
  • Knowledge of web analytics, SEO/SEM and Google Adwords
  • A high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
  • Good organization skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge with CRM programs
  • Self-motivated yet customer-focused
