Moravian Theological Seminary (MTS) is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty appointment in the New Testament starting in Fall 2021. Ideal candidates will:

possess a PhD or equivalent in New Testament studies (exceptional ABD candidates near completion of their dissertation will be considered)

have experience in teaching and/or pastoral leadership
-
be able to teach graduate courses in multiple modalities (on site, on line, hybrid) in New Testament across multiple degree programs and supervise student research
-
be able to teach and/or oversee at least one of the following areas: preaching, Christianity in the African diaspora, Womanist hermeneutics, Latinx perspectives, intercultural ministry, or continuing education programs
-
scholarly competencies should include some combination of interreligious and intercultural awareness as pertinent to the field
-
support the mission of MTS (see below)

Moravian Theological Seminary was founded in 1806 to prepare people for service in the Moravian Church. Today it is a diverse community of learners from multiple faith traditions. MTS offers the following masters degrees: MDiv., MA in Clinical Counseling, MA in Formation and Ministry, MA in Chaplaincy, and MA in Theological Studies. MTS is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools and Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Our faculty engage students in experiential and academically rigorous programs that are personally and spiritually transformative. We embrace technology and offer both onsite and online courses.
MTS is part of Moravian College, which offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs. Located in the historic community of Bethlehem, PA, almost equidistant between New York City and Philadelphia, our community welcomes people from diverse backgrounds who are following calls to leadership and service in congregational, counseling, spiritual direction, chaplaincy, and other forms of ministry. The seminary typically has a few international students, some on campus, others online.
