Share Email Opening Title Solid Waste Manager-7211  Description Position Summary: Under limited supervision, accomplishes the Solid Waste Management program's strategic objectives by planning, organizing and supervising all functions required to operate and maintain departmental activities and services. Ensure that the recycling and disposal of solid waste services are provided effectively and efficiently to the Tohono O'odham Nation. The work is normally reviewed upon completion to ensure compliance with general organization/department goals, policies and procedures. Major work activities are covered by procedures or guidelines permitting flexibility in selecting methods to utilize and procedures to follow, determination of work priorities, and the planning and coordination of projects.   Position Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies, Business Administration or related field and four years’ work experience in planning and implementation of programs on solid waste management and recycling; or an equivalent combination of training, education, and work experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position. Two years supervisory experience. Licenses, Certifications, Special Requirements: Must obtain OSHA 40-hours HAZMAT certification after hire. Must obtain certifications in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and First Aid within the first six months of hire. Upon recommendation for hire a criminal background check is required to determine suitability for hire. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, (no DUIs or major traffic citations within the last three years). Must submit a 39-month driving record with the employment application. Based on the department’s needs, incumbents may be required to demonstrate fluency in both the Tohono O’odham Language and English as a condition of employment.   Location Sells   Open Date 7/1/2019   Close Date 10/7/2019   About the Organization The Tohono O'odham Nation is a federally-recognized tribe that includes approximately 28,000 members occupying tribal lands in Southwestern Arizona.
