Full-Time Contract Position to March 31, 2022 (with the possibility of an extension or becoming permanent)

The Communications Assistant is a key member of the YSSN’s Communications Team, responsible for planning and coordinating communications activities for YSSN’s Communications Team. In this role, you will work closely with YSSN’s Office Manager and the Communications Team to successfully support our communications objectives.

We are seeking candidates who have versatile experience in communications-related activities, and in particular those who have a creative background. This position may provide a number of important supports to our work from creating dynamic presentations and materials to developing key website and intranet content to posting on social media. Must be a self-starter and able to independently move projects forward, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, disseminate and support various communication efforts, to help plan events, create promotional materials and messages to key stakeholders (e.g., presentations, videos, email campaigns, templates, direct mail pieces, brochures, social media campaigns, internal communication campaigns, etc.)
  • Maintain and update content on websites and intranet (WordPress and SharePoint experience would be definite assets)
  • Collaborate with Communications Team to coordinate various promotional campaigns

 

 
Position Requirements
  • A higher education degree that includes formal communications training
  • Minimum 2 years communications experience
  • Working knowledge of email marketing software (e.g.,Constant Contact)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and preferably Office 365 (including PowerPoint, Word, Teams, OneNote, SharePoint, Excel and Publisher)
  • Working knowledge of WordPress, web analytics and SEO an asset
  • Good understanding of social media channels, metrics, best practices
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, attention to detail
  • Ability to use independent judgement and to be self-directed, but able to work as part of a team
  • Bilingual (French/English) would be an asset
  • The successful candidate will be required to provide a police clearance that meets agency standards
  • A valid G driver’s license, business use insurance and a reliable vehicle are required for this position
