GENERAL SUMMARY: This position is for a Logistics Specialist in the DDG 51 Machinery Control Systems (MCS) group. The main function of the candidate will be to provide lifecycle inventory management support of MCS on the USS ARLEIGH BURKE class of destroyer. This includes support of MCS material and asset management that are used at the Land Based Engineering Site (LBES) as well as on the waterfront and other facilities.

LOCATION: Philadelphia, PA.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lifecycle inventory management support of the machinery control system which includes, but is not limited to:

  • Inducting inventory into a computer based inventory management system
  • Tracking and configuration management control of assets and materials
  • Warehouse tracking through NAVSUP
  • Distribution of Inventory (check in / check out)
  • Distribution of Materials (receipt / issue)
  • Reporting on and replenishing inventory items that are broken or missing
  • Digital Media coordination for IA scanning and tracking
  • Shipment creator (DD1149 ERP paperwork) and delivery of material to be shipped to the shipping POCs
  • Supporting procurement and transfer of goods and services
  • Provide recommendations for initiatives related to lean processes and enhancements related to all facets of inventory management
  • Purchase Requisition advisor
  • Monthly Inventory Management reporting

ANCILLARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The applicant may be required to perform ancillary duties such as, but not limited to:

  • Coordinating calibration of MCS and test equipment
  • Attend  ERP hands-on training and obtain required roles
  • Engage in web training
 
Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree commensurate to supporting inventory management or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in an office environment supporting inventory management

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successful applicants must have an active government security clearance

REQUIREMENTS (ESSENTIAL):

  • Knowledge of the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures associated with inventory management
  • Strong attention to detail and computer skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented and efficient
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications (particularly Excel and Access), SharePoint and Wiki
  • Proficiency in database methodology and database management
  • Proficiency or ability to become proficient (within 1-3 months of onboarding) with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) business management software
  • Ability to adapt to shifting requirements with composure
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize workload effectively while taking direction from multiple leads
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a team environment

REQUIREMENTS (PREFERRED):

  • Ability to convey needs, risks, and proposed resolutions in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to lead initiatives with limited resources
  • Familiarity with resource planning and personnel time management
