Description

U.S. News & World Report is seeking a motivated self-starter with a degree in communications, English, marketing, PR and/or journalism to sharpen his or her external communication skills on the award-winning U.S. News Education team. This position is located in Washington, D.C.

The primary responsibility of this individual will be to moderate U.S. News’ new, fast-growing User Reviews and Questions & Answers community, which was recently added to the Best Colleges product and has seen tremendous growth since its launch in August. This internship will also include additional communication tasks beyond comment moderation.

In this role, the Education intern will:

  • Review and approve or reject content based on our Acceptable Use Policy;
  • Research, write and publish answers to community questions;
  • Create digital and print marketing collateral to promote the community to U.S. News users;
  • Assist the Education product and editorial teams with internal reporting on and analysis of the community;
  • Work with social media and PR teams to promote U.S. News Education products;
  • Create and execute email marketing campaigns to support U.S. News Education products; and
  • Work directly with universities to help them engage with the U.S. News user community.

This individual will report to the Education team and will also work closely with the Consumer Advice team to ensure that all messaging meets U.S. News editorial standards and supports our brand mission.

 
Position Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (major in communications, English, marketing, PR and/or journalism a plus)
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Digital publishing experience (using a content management system, school newspaper or online blog, for example)
  • Basic HTML/CSS knowledge a plus
  • Desire to take initiative, ability to work independently and eagerness to learn

This is a one-year internship that pays $13.25 per hour. Please provide both a resume and cover letter to be considered.
