Certified Peer Recovery Specialist-Medical Services 

Description

The Richmond Behavioral Health Authority is seeking a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist to support our medical services team. The successful candidate will perform intermediate skilled human support work ensuring clients are prepared for treatment by conducting personal interactions with clients to promote peer-to-peer support and working with the Psychiatric Prescribers and clients to ensure healthy progression. Work is performed under the immediate supervision of the Medical Services Practice Manager.

Essential Functions

Provides peer support and outreach services to current clients for medication management only services. Individual will serve as a resource and peer support on an as needed basis.

Will work with case managers to transition the individuals to medication management only services.

Provides motivational prompting and informational support to clients; encourages and provides positive reinforcement and support to clients.

Provides peer support as needed to assist with continued community integration.

Directs clients to available community resources related to mental health and social services; maintains current knowledge of available resources; identifies community areas that may benefit from outreach efforts.

Maintain ongoing roster of individuals only being seen by the Psychiatric Prescribers.

Relays information to the Medical Services Practice Manager and Psychiatric Prescriber relating to client's progression or digression.

Makes appointment reminder calls to the medication management only clients as well as clients scheduled for the psychiatric providers and nurses.

Serves as the agency contact and mentor to assist individuals if any needs arise outside of the need for medication management.

Assists with front desk coverage on the Medical Services unit if needed.

Attends staff meetings as required.

 
Position Requirements

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED and experience in a behavioral health setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Peer Specialist certification required.

Starting Salary Range $16.73/hour
