Description

SUMMARY: The core of WetStone Technologies' products is our datasets. These are used to give force behind our flagship malware discovery programs such as Gargoyle and StegoHunt. To be competitive in the computer forensics field, these datasets must be continually updated. On a day-to-day basis malware analyst interns will be responsible for researching and updating the datasets repository.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Find programs in various categories that are not already in the WetStone datasets
  • Install programs in a virtual environment and extract files and pertinent information
  • Research emerging vulnerabilities or attacks
  • Upload programs to the WetStone Repository
  • Brainstorm with other on new features or improvements to our WetStone products
  • Provide support to other WetStone programmers in troubleshooting, developing, or testing new programs written in Python, C, C++, and Delphi.
  • Create new virtual environments for testing, testing of our datasets for false positives, or other testing assignments that may come to us from outside sources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Position Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Enrolled full-time and completion of at least two years in an accredited degree program with at least a 3.0 Grade Point Average or a recent graduate from an accredited, undergraduate program in computer science, information science, information technology, or a similar field.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to research, find, test, and upload known malware samples to our malware repository. Strong disciplinary skills and the ability to self-pace in order to discover malware samples for monthly dataset releases. Applicants should also have previous experience in at least one programming language. Python experience is preferable.  
Special Instructions Part time position working on average 19.5 hours per week.
