Ophthalmic Technician: Full Time Position Available:

Our Pediatric Ophthalmology practice is currently looking for a motivated Ophthalmic Technician with customer care and support experience, interested in working with children. A successful applicant will be working with a team of ophthalmic professionals to insure the highest quality of health care to patients of all ages and abilities, focusing mainly in the area of pediatrics.

A successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Providing positive and effective clinical care that supports departmental and operational needs.
  • Demonstrating an enjoyable and empathetic focus to all pediatric patients, parents or guardians throughout their eye care experience.
  • Collecting and organizing medical records, patient information, medical history, materials and supplies as required for encounters.
  • Aiding the ophthalmologist and/or clinician in eye exams to streamline patient flow.
  • Performing specialized duties including; HVF, external photography, fundus photography, slit lamp photography, pachymetry.
  • Scheduling patient encounters of all types, including routine or specialized exams, surgeries and procedures to coordinate within and across patients, providers, departments, and institutions.
  • Assisting the department with ongoing regulatory compliance.
  • Responding to requests for routine information or assistance within scope of knowledge and authority.

 
Position Requirements

To qualify, you must have:

  • A high school level of educational development and one to two years of previous experience such as customer service, administrative, or experience in a health care setting.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills to deal effectively with clinicians, administrative staff, and families/young patients.
  • The ability to provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations.
  • A keen organizational skill set appropriate to supporting a medical office, balancing assigned tasks and competing responsibilities in the normal course of a clinical ophthalmologic setting.
  • Computer and research skills for tasks of word processing and data coordination of many types
  • The ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies.
  • JCAHPO certification is an asset; however equal weight will be placed on ophthalmic experience. *Additional training will be provided to those hired.
