Description

Overview

The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) is seeking a temporary intern from May through August to assist and support the Economics, Finance, and Informatics division. This opportunity is ideal for a college student seeking an internship in the healthcare industry related to finance, accounting, and working with data sets. The schedule is approximately 25 hours per week, between Monday through Friday, during normal business hours.

This position requires working with confidential member financial and statistical data and adhering to HANYS’ data security policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Gather, code, and verify data from hospitals’ annual audited financial statement filings, NYS health insurer’s quarterly managed care financial filings, and other data-driven projects into Excel worksheets and Access databases.

 
Position Requirements

Successful candidates should be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program, preferably in accounting or finance, with knowledge of finance and financial issues as they relate to audited financial statements. Proficient skills with financial and statistical programs, specifically Excel and Access, are required.
