Description

Geneva College invites applications for a part-time Student Teaching Supervisor. The position begins January 2018 and will remain open, until filled. Minority and female applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

Job Summary:

Geneva College invites applications for part-time Student Teaching Supervisor in the Education Department. The position begins January 2018. The selected candidate will supervise student teachers in daytime classes during the Spring semester, onsite in area local school classrooms.

The primary responsibilities and must have knowledge of include:

This person would supervise 6-9 student teachers for one semester by observing each of them in the field at least 6 times and conferencing with the student and the cooperating teacher. Attendance would be required on campus once a week for a brief conference with the students

Selected candidates will be expected to:

• Supervise 6-9 student teachers for one semester

• Observe each of them in the field at least 6 times

• Conference with each student teacher and each co-operating teacher

• Meet with each student teacher on campus for a brief conference each week on Tuesday at 3:15

• Keep accurate records of observations

• Evaluate each student teacher holistically and on a rubric

• Evaluate each student teacher's portfolio

 
Position Requirements

Personal Qualities - Christian Commitment

The successful candidate will be a thoughtful and articulate Christian and an active member of a Protestant evangelical church. Preference will be given to the candidates who support and have an articulate understanding of the Reformed faith. The individual must understand and support the College’s Foundations for Christian Education by expressing an evangelical Christian profession of faith and demonstrate the ability to integrate a Christian perspective in their work.

Education and Experience:

Candidate must have obtained at least a conferred Master’s Degree from an accredited U.S. college/university or international equivalent. Classroom teaching experience is required, ranging from K-12. Teaching experience in 7-12 is preferred.
