Medical News Today, a division of Healthline Media, is a leading healthcare website in the top 360 sites in the United States and the top 120 sites in the United Kingdom. The site receives more than 12 million monthly visits.

We are looking for an experienced Managing Editor to oversee Medical News Today's new healthcare provider (HCP) content initiatives across all its digital media platforms. This includes building work + life?, MNT's flagship weekly newsletter targeting the millennial clinician, as well as Special Reports, focused monthly content reports that are relevant to healthcare providers and professionals. In this role, you will work closely with the Senior Medical Director of Content to drive execution of content strategies targeting the healthcare provider. You will also work cross-functionally with Marketing, Design, Product, and Sales to ensure content execution aligns with business goals. You will supervise writers, editors and freelancers in both the San Francisco and Brighton, UK offices. This role combines the innovation of a writer with the practical focus of an operations manager. You should be able to immerse yourself into the healthcare provider mindset and sphere, pitching and guiding strategic and insightful ideas for stories and seeing them through to publication. We expect excellent organizational and leaderships skills as well as a unique problem-solving ability.


? Collaborate with Sr. Medical Director of Content and advisors to determine content topics and themes and troubleshoot any issues

? Plan and manage all daily HCP editorial operations with teams in both the US and UK

? Partner with Sr. Medical Director of Content to develop Medical News Today's HCP editorial identity, style, tone, and perspective

? Immerse oneself into and become an expert in the healthcare provider content space

? Hire, coach and supervise editorial staff, ensuring deliverables align with strategic and production goals

? Plan and manage HCP editorial calendar

? Develop and manage Medical News Today HCP Editorial Style Guide, ensuring compliance with policies, style and tone

Position Requirements


? Proven 5+ years experience as managing editor or relevant role, specifically with content targeting the healthcare provider or professional

? A discerning eye and ability to analyze healthcare provider news, research, and lifestyle articles

? An inherent understanding of the clinician’s perspective and interests

? Exceptional ability in copywriting and editing

? Firm understanding of AP and AMA style, as well as APA formatting

? A knack for pulling out the salient points of complex medical and clinical data and research

? A love of language and storytelling

? An astute sense of appropriate style, voice, and tone

? Exceptional analytical, research, writing, and editing skills

? Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as cloud-based workflow programs and CMS

? Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven department

? Creativity and a passion for writing

? Sophisticated organizational skills and attention to detail

? Excellent communication skills and collaborative attitude

? Ability to work well with cross-functional and remote teams

? A sense of humor
