JOB SUMMARY:

The position involves serving as an assistant to the Public Administrator who provides protective oversight by court appointment to those residents who are unable to manage themselves and/or their financial matters.  Work involves Case Management; decision making regarding living arrangements; medical treatment & consents; education or rehabilitation plans and/or handling of client’s assets. Variety of general office support functions requiring independent judgment; exercising supervisory authority and responsibility to the wards; and interacting with constituents, support agencies and care providers. The position investigates estates, marshals’ assets, manages affairs and conducts business of estates in probate.

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, from an accredited university;
  • Five (5) years of experience in a social services field;
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses or Certifications:

  • Must possess a valid State Driver’s License.

Special Requirements:

  • Many situations may require early morning or late evening hours.
  • Must be able to receive and maintain appointment by the court per RsMO 473.770 as a Deputy Public Administrator.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   

  • Ability to apply new developments in office practices and remain informed on the departmental areas of responsibility in order to effectively communicate.
  • Ability to interpret and explain programs to others.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion.
  • Ability to perform advanced or complex clerical functions requiring application of County and/or department policies and procedures.
  • Ability to supervise support positions.
  • Ability to apply interpersonal skills with other employees and the public.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion at all times.

Normal Entry Salary $40,170.00 Per Year
