Legal Intern, Summer 2019 

Description

The Ladies Professional Golf Association, Inc (LPGA). headquarted in Daytona Beach, FL, is currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic intern to work with its in-house legal team. The Legal Intern will have exposure to various aspects of the corporate legal environment, including contract review and negotiation, intellectual property, privacy and security, and law department management. We are a small, highly collaborative team, so the intern will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, with the opportunity to tailor the position to the intern's interests and skills.

The internship will be based in Daytona Beach, Florida and the intern will be required to work a full-time Monday through Friday schedule, starting June 2019 through mid-August 2019. Must have reliable transportation and secure own housing for duration of internship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Draft and review a variety of contracts under supervision of counsel
  • Review and update form contracts
  • Review and summarize existing contracts related to inquiries or disputes
  • Assist with implementation and maintenance of a contract management system
  • Advise internal business teams on compliance with various legal regimes
  • Research legal issues in the development of policies and procedures
  • Intellectual Property research & enforcement
  • Research and draft memorandums on recent industry developments
  • Attend meetings with internal LPGA business units
  • Other duties as assigned by the legal team
 
Position Requirements
  • Completion of second year at an accredited law school
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on business writing skills
  • Proven legal research skills, including experience with Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw
  • Familiarity with sports business and contract, intellectual property, and antitrust law preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and related programs
  • Strong organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail required.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision, be self-directed and demonstrate initiative
  • Strong team synergy skills and ability to work collaboratively with others whom you have no direct authority over
