Tour Media Official 

Description

The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), headquartered in Daytona Beach, FL, is currently seeking a full - time, Tour Media Official. This position serves as the onsite media official at selected Tour events and creates and maintains relationships with current and emerging media members and LPGA members. This position is responsible for the day-to-day functions of the Communications Department and oversees the onsite tournament Media. This position will report to the Senior Manager Tour Media, Communications & Media Relations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Scheduling, managing and conducting press conferences & interviews; arranging one-on-one interviews for players with the media
  • Writes and publishes various communications related documents such as press releases, feature stories, tour press releases, player guides, fan book, news releases, etc.
  • Works directly with Tournament Directors and local PR teams to ensure maximum exposure for selected events and to ensure media center and all other media related issues run smoothly
  • Writing and producing notes and content for LPGA.com
  • Creating and coordinating content for multiple LPGA social media platforms
  • Collaborates with other teammates to produce LPGA's written materials and publications and updated statistics to media members
  • Maintain the information on the LPGA's Online Media Center
  • Liaison for print, television & radio requests for player interviews, monitor and measure media coverage
  • Liaison for radio requests for player interviews
  • Assigned to special projects as needed

 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Sports Management, Journalism or related field required
  • One to two years’ experience in sports information or media relations desirable; golf background desirable
  • Strong writing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate pro-active initiative, with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledgeable in use and application of social media sites including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint required
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign preferred
  • Fluency (reading/writing/speaking) in English and one or more languages preferred
  • Must be able to travel (international and domestic) extensively for extended periods of time; 15 – 20 weeks of travel required.

Location Headquarters/Central Florida  
Travel Percentage Approximately 40% (15-20 weeks / year)
