Description

The public relations coordinator for the Kimbell Art Museum is a proactive and detail-oriented individual who coordinates the museum’s public relations efforts, promotes programs and special events, plans and produces events, and provides departmental administrative support. This person is an excellent communicator and a self-starter with at least 2 years of related experience. The coordinator reports to the head of marketing and public relations.

DUTIES:

  • Produces media releases in consultation with department heads and facilitates the distribution of releases to local, national, and international media
  • Pitches stories to local media in an effort to achieve constant visibility for the museum’s exhibitions, public programs and special events
  • Cultivates relationships with press constituents and serves as museum spokesperson as needed
  • Fulfills media requests, which includes scheduling interviews, escorting photographers, sending requested images and appropriate information
  • Maintains media database and press distribution lists
  • Plans and coordinates select events, including on-site events and community outreach efforts
  • Maintains the education promotion budget and coordinates the promotion for education events, including appearances for Wari Man, the Kimbell’s interactive character
  • Prepares reports and other documents
  • Collaborates with the marketing and public relations team to develop ongoing marketing strategies and promotional plans for exhibitions, public programs, special events, the Buffet Restaurant, and Museum Shop, including social media content, digital communications, collateral material, and advertising
  • Oversees the work of one or more department interns
  • Assists in other PR and marketing projects as needed
  • Assists in special projects as assigned
