Head of Marketing and Public Relations

Description

OBJECTIVE

To manage the museum’s promotional marketing, including media relations, community relations, advertising activities, digital platforms, and select special events

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP

Reports to the Deputy Director of Finance and Administration but works closely with the Director of the museum

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

Uses independent judgment but works with many members of the senior staff to make final decisions on various issues

JOB DUTIES

  • Supervise all aspects of media relations, including initiating opportunities to strengthen the museum’s profile and establishing and maintaining strong relationships with representatives of the local, national, and international art media community, including editors and writers
  • Develop marketing/advertising campaigns for exhibitions and general Kimbell programming; place/purchase media buys
  • Supervise the development of media relations and marketing publications and materials, including press releases, press kits, rack cards, brochures, print ads, radio ads, television ads, website ads, and other promotional materials
  • Research and develop new methods and venues to publicize the museum
  • Manage budgets for advertising and media relations accounts
  • Oversee the development, content, and maintenance of the museum’s website and social media outlets
  • Supervise the members of the museum’s marketing team, including the public relations coordinator, digital media coordinator, designer, and multimedia assistant
  • Coordinate with all museum departments to determine promotional opportunities
  • Manage the museum’s community relations as they relate to travel and tourism, community partnerships, and promotional opportunities
  • Organize select special events and community programs
  • Perform other duties as directed
