We have an opportunity for an Aviation Project Manager to join our Aviation Services Group. This position could be located out of our Des Moines, Ames or Cedar Rapids locations. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and managing the design and construction management for airport projects including extension and reconstruction of runways, taxiways and aprons; fuel systems; vertical infrastructure including hangars and AD buildings; NAVAIDS; etc. Other duties include management of budget and schedule for assigned airport projects as well as assist with marketing of future clients. In this role you will also serve as a client contact to airport boards at airport clients as assigned. This position will report to the Aviation Group Manager and work with the Aviation Business Development Manager to develop and implement a marketing plan. The ideal candidate will possess a high capacity for self-motivation and be able to manage and coordinate with staff and subconsultants from other offices. What You Will Be Doing: - Responsible for the work of other engineers and technicians; plans and organizes airport project assignments
- Serve as a client contact to airport boards/commissions and airport clients as assigned
- Review and/or prepare preliminary reports and feasibility studies
- Develop, coordinate and review the final design and preparation of plans and specifications
- Provides technical advice regarding design, construction or modification and repairs to clients, contractors and other staff members
- Responsible for the management planning, scheduling and performance of multiple engineering projects and personnel, both design and construction
- Read and interpret engineering plans, specifications and reports
- Perform effective technical writing and correspondence
- Perform business development activities (client needs, research, proposals, etc.)
- Coordinate construction administration and monitor documentation requirements with field staff
- Apply broad understanding of civil engineering and other fields to reach innovative and interdependent solutions
- Assists with the training and development of professional and technical staff
- Develops relationships with regulatory agencies
- Travel periodically to work sites and other project related locations
What We Are Looking For: - B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Iowa and desired in Minnesota within 6 months
- A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in the civil engineering field is required. This experience must include aviation engineering
- Knowledge of FAA Advisory Circulars
- Experience in plan development and construction contract administration
- Proven ability to lead the design and preparation of construction documents for projects
- Project delivery experience working directly with airport clients
Preferred skills: - Pilot License/Experience
- Two (2) or more years of design and construction experience on airport projects on both airside and landside
