Description

Reports to: Senior Director Direct Marketing

Primary Purpose:

Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Direct Marketing, the Digital Marketing Manager will be responsible for project management, calendaring, and coordination to support the direct marketing digital campaigns and direct mail efforts. The person will work closely within the Direct Marketing department, with internal departments, and with vendor partners to support and execute campaigns to help reach strategic fundraising goals. Additionally, this position will use their online and mobile communication strategies knowledge to create digital content for the Houston SPCA Website and Social Media Channels.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Responsible for developing, creating, and managing engaging content that aligns with our brand strategy and addresses the needs and interests of our multiple stakeholders.
  • Manage photography and videography production of assets needed to support public relations efforts.
  • Responsible for collaborating with team members to develop a content strategy that promotes internal and external user engagement.
  • Ability to use your outstanding editorial skills to develop and manage an editorial calendar, collaborate with marketing and communication teams to ensure consistent brand messages across all channels, and advise internal and external stakeholders on effective methods for presenting content on the web.
  • Ability to project manage digital marketing and support direct mail campaigns. Lead internal and external team check-in meetings to keep digital marketing projects on schedule.
  • Responsible for coordinating internal teams to meet deadlines to help execute direct marketing campaigns and achieve revenue goals.
  • Responsible for reviewing and editing direct marketing campaigns, copywriting as needed, fluency in Houston SPCA brand guidelines, and review of direct marketing campaigns to train others and ensure guidelines are met.
  • Responsible for managing vendors to keep projects on schedule, provide feedback on creative, and improve processes.
  • Ability to serve as team liaison to manage critical internal relationships with other departments and ensure we represent the Houston SPCA’s mission pillars optimally and accurately in communications.
  • Ability to handle donor relations requests and technical troubleshooting as needed.
  • Responsible for building and nurturing existing social media followers and influencers.
  • Responsible for directly engaging with influencers on client social channels creatively and professionally.
  • Ability to support and develop content strategies to grow followers.
  • Ability to work with our agency of record (Pursuant) to ensure campaigns drive social media supporters to the website and grow a warm prospect base for fundraising.
  • Responsible for working in conjunction with other departments to promote organizational communication priorities.
  • Ability to develop original story “packages,” including copy, interviews, and digital and visual content by following a pet from intake through adoptions for all direct mail packages for Houston SPCA. Minimum of 22 unique story packages annually.
  • Responsible for re-launching and growing the YouTube channel for Houston SPCA
  • Accountable for all pet marketing for adoptable pets at Houston SPCA:
    • Acquire and train a volunteer team and keep them engaged in meeting the needs of our pets
    • Ensure photos are updated for 8,000 to 10,000 pets adopted each year.
  • Responsible for providing all departments with creative support (signage, proposal formatting, flyers, and other printed materials) as time allows.
 
Position Requirements

Knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the essential functions of this position:

  • Highly organized, with keen attention to detail and a passion for serving and creative marketing.
  • Knowledge to manage, schedule/publish content to social media channels
  • Ability to develop and execute KPIs based on company-wide goals
  • Prepare presentations and be comfortable presenting them to Executive Leadership and appropriate teams.
  • Relationship-building: Develop meaningful relationships with internal team members, influencers, nonprofits, and thought-leaders.
  • Expert in Social: Understand and can explain how each social media platform works and how they are different.
  • Creative: Comfortable developing and coordinating brainstorms around fundraising goals and other marketing ideas.
  • Observant: The ability to understand people and the context of sensitive situations.
  • Analytical: The ability to see and understand how work in social media connects to the larger organizational goals.
  • Attentive to Detail: Highly detail oriented. Works to ensure all platforms are maximized with appropriate messaging, calls to action, and timely responses.
  • Self-Starter: Ability to drive workflow and engage with individuals at all levels of the organization. A minimum of 3+ years of experience with a proven track record in marketing specific social media paid campaigns with influencers and social media clients.
  • 3+ years of Influencer Agency or Brand-side Experience in a Social Media, Paid Media Analyst, Content Coordinator, or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of social media marketing
  • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized with excellent time and project management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Networking aptitude
  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, or a related field required
  • Ability to create and sustain positive working relationships within the Houston SPCA, with volunteers and the public, and be a team player.
  • Professionally represent the Houston SPCA in all situations with the public, volunteers, and staff.
  • Demonstrate patience, courtesy and work well under stressful conditions.
  • Knowledge and ability to accurately work with detailed information in paper and electronic form.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to learn and quickly adapt to changes in programs and procedures.
  • Ability to work unscheduled hours.
