Ingleside Communities is located in beautiful Mount Horeb, WI just south of Madison. Our Senior Living Campus is made up of an 80-bed Skilled Nursing Facility, a 16-Unit Assisted Living / Memory Care home and a 24- Unit Residential Care Apartment Complex. We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Assistant to work full-time or part-time including some weekends to assist with maintaining the interior and exterior of our facilities.

Maintenance Assistants are essential to keeping our buildings in optimal working order, and our grounds neat and appealing for our residents, tenants and the community of Mount Horeb. They maintain the essential mechanical, electrical and resident care equipment in safe operating condition. Responsibilities also include general facility and equipment repairs, drywall work and painting, maintenance of floor finishes, window cleaning, moving furniture, etc. This position requires a person who is detail oriented and a self-starter who can work in a team environment as well as independently; ensuring a hazard-free, functional, and homelike environment for our residents, tenants, staff and visitors.

Position Requirements

Requirements:

  • High school education or the equivalent (2-Year Associate Degree Preferred)
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated mechanical/technical abilities in HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, fire equipment and sprinkler systems, and general carpentry including the use of appropriate hand and power tools
  • Ability to stand or walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour day, and be physically able to lift a minimum of 50#
  • Ability to frequently bend, squat or climb during an 8-hour day
  • Valid Wisconsin drivers license with a safe driving record
  • Life Safety Code experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Must be literate in English and possess good written and verbal communication skills
  • Pre-Employment Health and Drug Screen
  • Background/Criminal check

Essential Functions of the Job:

  1. Demonstrates competence in application of mechanical and technical concepts to facility, repair, and maintenance projects.
  2. Maintains all essential mechanical, electrical and patient care equipment in safe operating condition.
  3. Maintains building and grounds to ensure a neat and clean presentation and environment, to include lawn care, mowing, landscaping, snow removal and salting of driveways and sidewalks.
  4. Demonstrates sufficient knowledge of basic math to perform essential functions.
  5. Demonstrates technical knowledge and analytic ability to diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions.
  6. Applies maintenance procedures to facility situations in keeping with building and safety codes to assure that services provided meet acceptable standards of quality.
  7. Demonstrates sufficient interpersonal and professional skills to interact with facility staff, residents and their families to answer questions and to make prompt efforts to resolve problems.
  8. Assists in transportation of residents or staff in facility vehicles when needed.
  9. Assists with facility emergency drills including fire and severe weather.
  10. Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks/responsibilities and complete duties/projects within allotted time.
  11. Responds to change productively and handles additional tasks/projects as assigned.
  12. Puts residents first: ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals' needs and rights.
