Job Summary: The Senior Graphic Designer will concept, design, develop, and implement all print, digital, and video related marketing and fundraising materials and communications that support the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. The Senior Graphic Designer is responsible for leading projects, collaborating with Library staff and the Creative Services department to put the visual identity in place to excite and inspire our audiences.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Graphic design to include, but not limited to: all design assets in support of integrated marketing plans for major fundraising campaigns and events; print advertising, fundraising collateral, brochures, signs, print & email invitations, event signage, banners, digital ads and banners, video, photography and website visual content;

  • Demonstrates ability to take direction and develops initial creative concepts for CLP clients;

  • Delivers high quality work, meets deadlines in a fast-paced environment, reports progress in an organized manner, adept at project managing multiple projects simultaneously and ensures projects adhere to budget;

  • Ensures all internally produced work done by the Creative Services department adheres to brand standards;

  • Mentors Creative Services department by providing guidance and expertise with software, design trends and creative input;

  • Sources and supervises vendors, freelance designers, videographers and photographers;

  • Functions as Lead designer for visual identity development in new brand creation projects;

  • Leads visual identity creation of new brand projects and proficient at developing style guides;

  • Creates and manages inventory of creative services assets; Develops and maintains library for design assets;

  • Understands and executes the fundamental elements of storytelling in order to drive the overall CLP story and brand across all mediums.

Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design/Graphic Arts;

  • Minimum Five years of proven related experience;

  • Portfolio that showcases solid conceptual layout and advanced typographical skills;

  • Animated digital design/motion graphic skills a plus;

  • Illustrates a strong understanding of photographic and cinematographic composition;

  • Highly organized and dependable, detail-oriented, resourceful and demonstrate excellent follow-through;

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members, take direction from and/or lead other work areas according to the project;

  • Advanced knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, well versed in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), video editing experience is a plus;

  • Digital photography and video skills a plus; Ability to animate for video also a plus;

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with public, supervisors, co-workers, and system wide;

  • PA State Criminal Background Check and PA Child Abuse History Clearance required upon offer of employment.

Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time  
Work Hours 37.5 hours per week; generally M-F daylight  
Salary $45,000 - $53,000
